Use buildah 1.40.0

Hi there,
New to buildah as I try to move from using Docker and not too familiar with containerisation as a whole (just the basics Ig)
I saw that the feature COPY --parent was released in the 1.40.0 version
I kinda need this feature to replicate a file tree from local to the image (without copying everything).
I'm using buildah in my gitlab ci pipeline.
So I have the following:

  image: quay.io/buildah/stable:latest
  before_script:
    - buildah version
    - echo $CI_REGISTRY_PASSWORD | buildah login --tls-verify=false -u $CI_REGISTRY_USER --password-stdin $CI_REGISTRY

My problem is that the image quay.io/buildah/stable:latest is built upon 1.39.3 ?
buildah version returns:

I tried to upgrade buildah at runtime doing: dnf -y upgrade buildahbut to no avails.
I've seen #3952 and #3365 and I guess it's related to the image for 1.40.0 not being present in quay ?

Am I doing something completely stupid? Should I wait for the image to be released with the new version ?

The image was most recently built yesterday, but it's built using Fedora as the base, using the latest packaged version that's been released, either as part of the original release or as a update. The update to 1.40 there is still in updates-testing (https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-fa52f863f1), so it's not there for the build to pick up yet.

Going by the comments in the update, it looks like it's waiting to go out in a batch with the not-yet-tagged podman 5.5. @lsm5, do I understand that right?

Yes, they are released together on Fedora and since podman 5.5 is currently an RC, we're not pushing it to stable yet. Podman 5.5.0 stable is expected next week, so as soon as we receive sufficient karma after that podman build is included, all those builds will be available in updates.

@JuR-0 would you mind running a dnf -y upgrade buildah --enablerepo=updates-testing instead?
