mysql 5.7 not supported?

When connecting to mysql 8 it works, but can't connect to mysql 5.7

Error 1130: Host '127.0.0.1' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server

If I connect with unix socket it seems to work unix(/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock)

go-mysql-driver supports MySQL 5.7.
Although your sample is too incomplete to reproduce your issue, it seems common pitfall of MySQL auth.

• Check the hostname part of the user in the server.
• Check the (skip-)name-resolve setting in the server.
• Google is your friend.

I alwsays use -skip-name-resolve :)

But I figured out myself that I could use unix socket

But I had a similar issue with some Java, where it couldn't connect to mysql 5.7, so I think the auth mecanism is a bit different in mysql 8

the SQL driver should support from mysql 5.6+ :)

but everything works.. If I add the user/pass in phpmyadmin (mysql 5.7) it login without problems.. If I login through the command line it also works (also mysql 5.7)

They just use unix socket implicitly.
