All modern operating systems show that switching between apps can be made faster if users are able to make a selection before the switching actually occurs. This is about improving the IDE by allowing users to cycle between the files names and only switch to a tab when they have made their mind which they want to see.

The added benefit of this scheme would be that if a file is not open (i want to be able to close tabs), then it is still possible to navigate to it fast with the keyboard (many people like to touch the mouse only when they have to.
